Hats off to Amazon for super fast shipping and packaging.

I was impressed with the quality of the product. The finish, metal’s weight, magnet’s strength, spring, screws – everything is high quality.

It did not take more than 5 minutes to install each door stop. I will highly recommend this product.

  2. I bought 5 in antique brass. Nice finish. Product works great…maybe too good. Had to place cabinet bumpers (small cork dots with adhesive) on the round fixture (the one with the spring) so it would not hold on so tight.

    My small gripes:

    1. A cheap little tool to help unscrew the base from the (spring part) would be appreciated.

    2. Would like some decent hollow wall and door anchors. The ones supplied are useless.

    3. Tricky to align the 2 pieces if you don’t have much space to work in.

All in all…a good product that I would buy again.

Please note: if your door does not meet the stop at exactly a right angle, you will need to manually adjust the positioning of the doorstop to fit into the catch. I mounted the catch first, set the stop against the closed door, and then used a pencil to mark the alignment for the stop with the catch for each particular door.

My only complaint is that the “antique brass” does not look like brass. It looks like the chrome version of this product Stanley Home Designs 825547 Magnetic Doorstop with Catch, Bright Chrome with a brown tinge.

I had some doors at my home that would not stay open. I had been using rubber floor wedges to keep the doors open. But that was a nuisance since I had to kick them around to open the door and then to put the door back in place. Then I read about magnetic doorstops and decided I wanted to try them. I ordered 10 of them for my doors – easily installed them – and now both my wife and I just love them. As for the rubber wedges – I’ll be giving them away. Buy these magnetic door stops – you can’t go wrong.

You can pick up similar items at most hardware stores but I was finding it hard to find the finish (antique brass) we wanted. These are easy to install with a drill and screwdriver and one can install on a door in 10-15 minutes (measure twice, drill once though)! The spring in the cap is heavy enough to stop a swinging door from hitting the wall (although if don’t with enough force, the magnet won’t be able to catch the door). The magnet is quite strong and holds the door firmly in place. We’ve found these particularly useful for double doors leading to a master bedroom but I may put one on my entry from the garage too because it would aid when bringing in groceries, etc. In my opinion, these are much better than a typical door stop that attaches to the hinge (these don’t hold the door open and don’t protect the wall as well). Excellent product.
